Welcome, Mrs. Sherry Hicks to McGraw High School as a Special Education Teacher. She introduces herself: "My name is Mrs. Sherry Hicks and I am joining McGraw High School as a special education teacher. I married a life-long resident, Herb Hicks, 38 years ago and we raised four children in the farm house originally built by the Hicks Family up on the hill (yes, we can come down that during the winter most days). After homeschooling our children for several years, I went back to college to become a teacher - I love the learning process! In 2009, I graduated from SUNY Cortland with my Childhood Education degree and started subbing in the local schools. I got my Master's in Special Education from Western Governors University in 2015 and began my full-time teaching career in special education. I have worked with elementary and high school students as well as in self-contained classes - both rural and urban. Each experience has given me opportunities to learn and grow as a teacher and as a person. I am very excited to bring those experiences with me back to the McGraw community. Currently, Herb and I are enjoying the empty nest stage which includes being active in our church, visiting our children and five grandchildren, when possible and watching high school sports. I look forward to meeting you at the games!
